Privacy Policy
Introduction
Reveal Reach (published in the Chrome Web Store as "Reveal Ad Library Reach & estimate Adspend", website transparencyads.com) is a free Chrome extension, a project by Pantheon. It shows the EU reach that Meta publishes in the Meta Ads Library, sorts ads by that reach and estimates their spend. This policy explains exactly what the extension reads, what it stores and what it never sends anywhere.
In short: since version 10.6 the extension is free and has no payments. To use it you sign in with a free account (with Google, or with email and password) managed with Google Firebase. Apart from that account, the extension does not send any data to our servers or to third parties.
Data We Collect
The only personal data we collect through the extension is what your free account needs. Here is everything the extension handles, and where it stays:
- Account data: your email address and, if you sign up with email, your password, handled by Google Firebase Authentication. The password is stored by Firebase only in hashed form and we never see it. Firebase also records when the account was created and when you last signed in.
- Sign in with Google: if you choose "Continue with Google", Google asks for your permission and then shares only your email address and a sign-in token with the extension (scopes
openidandemail). We never see your Google password and get no access to your Google account data. - User record: a record in Google Cloud Firestore with your email address and the account creation date, used to manage your account.
- Sign-in session: the Firebase sign-in token is kept in the extension's local storage on your device until you sign out.
- Your settings: the CPM and frequency you enter, and the state of the last analysis (running, done, number of ads analyzed), are saved in your browser with Chrome's
chrome.storage.localAPI. They never leave your device. - Report data: when you open a PDF report, the data of that single ad is written to
chrome.storage.localfor the report tab to read, then deleted as soon as the report is displayed. - No payment data: the extension does not ask for any payment details.
- No tracking: no analytics, no IP addresses, no browsing history, no advertising identifiers.
How the Extension Reads Meta Ads Library Data
The extension runs only on Meta Ads Library pages (facebook.com/ads/library). The EU reach figures, audience breakdowns, ad copy and creatives it shows are public information that Meta publishes under the EU Digital Services Act.
- Page responses: a small script reads, inside your browser, the responses that the Ads Library page itself already receives from Facebook (its GraphQL requests for search results and ad details). It never sends requests of its own and never modifies Facebook's requests or responses.
- Page content: when those responses are not enough, the extension reads the same figures from the page content (DOM) and opens the "See ad details" panels for you, exactly as you would by hand.
- Local only: this data is kept in the memory of the open tab to draw the badges, sort the ads and build the reports. It is discarded when you close or reload the tab. It is never stored on a server, transmitted or sold.
Permissions We Request
- storage: to remember your CPM, frequency and the state of the last analysis on your device, and to pass the data of one ad to its report tab.
- identity: only to open Google's sign-in window when you click "Continue with Google" and receive the sign-in token.
- activeTab: when you click the extension icon, to check that the current tab is the Meta Ads Library and to send it your commands (Scan, Analyze, Sort, Stop).
- Content scripts on facebook.com/ads/library: to show reach and spend on each ad card and to read the EU transparency data described above. They do not run on any other Facebook page or website.
Third-Party Services
The extension uses Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, provided by Google) to create your account, verify your email address, sign you in, send password reset emails and store your user record, and, if you choose "Continue with Google", Google's sign-in service. Apart from these, it does not communicate with any server of ours or of third parties, and the Ads Library data it reads is never sent to Firebase. The only external pages it opens are the ones you click: Meta Ads Library pages, the media files of an ad (when you click "Media"), our website and the Pantheon website. Links to Pantheon contain UTM parameters that only identify the source ("transparencyads") and never personal data.
We do not sell, rent or share any personal information.
Your Account and Data Retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You can ask us to delete your account at any time by writing to support@transparencyads.com: we delete your email address, your user record and, for accounts created with versions up to 10.5 (which offered a paid plan through Stripe), the analysis count and any subscription identifiers, within 30 days of the request.
Website
Our website (transparencyads.com) is a static site hosted by Netlify. It does not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels or analytics scripts. Like any web host, Netlify may process technical request logs (such as IP addresses) to deliver and protect the site.
If you write to us through the contact form, your name, email address, subject and message are delivered to our inbox through Web3Forms (web3forms.com). We use them only to answer you and delete them on request.
Children's Privacy
Reveal Reach is a tool for advertisers and marketing professionals. It is not directed to children under 13.
Your Rights (GDPR and CCPA)
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your account data by writing to support@transparencyads.com (see "Your Account and Data Retention" above). You can remove all local data at any time by signing out and uninstalling the extension.
Changes to This Policy
If the way the extension handles data changes, we will update this page and the "Last Updated" date at the top.
